Lamb Share Deposit

This deposit is for purchase of a half sheep. Sheep are processed 1-2 times a year, based on animals’ readiness for butcher. This deposit will go toward final the purchase price of your share at the time of processing.

All of our sheep are raised by rotationally grazing on pasture and supplemented with high quality alfalfa and grass hay when needed. 3 months prior to butcher, we add a blend of barley, oats and molasses to their feed, which adds a light marbling to the meat and improves the overall flavor profile.

Sheep are sold at price per pound of hanging carcass weight. This is to be paid to Dovecote Family Farmstead at the time of butcher. You will then be put in contact with the butcher and will give them your cut/wrap instructions. You will pay the butcher directly for your butcher fees according to your specifications. Butcher fees are paid upon pick up of your meat.

Example: hanging weight=75lbs. lbs. x $5.75 = $431.25, paid to Dovecote Family Farmstead. Butcher fees: 75lbs x $1.45/lb* for cut/wrap = $108.75 + $65 kill fee = $173.75 to butcher. Total price paid of $605.00

*cut and wrap fees may be higher due to specialty meat selections such as pre-marinated items etc.
